This year we are
changing things up a bit. Instead of the 5K run, we are working
with the City of Albuquerque and the Albuquerque Fire Department to
coordinate with their Annual Community Stair Climb event and Program on
Sunday 9.11.16. This year commemorates the 15th Anniversary of 9/11.
They hold a Stair Climb event in the City of Albuquerque Building so
community members can do a 55 story climb (you can do as much or as
little as you want to). They will honor First Responders, Military
and the Fallen from 9.11. The stair climbers can wear a photo of a
fallen First Responder, Veteran or a Victim, to honor them. The
climb will last as long as it was from the time the first Twin Tower was
hit until the second Twin Tower collapsed.
After the climb, there will be a program on the Civic Plaza with
speakers and they are featuring a Key Note speaker: Charles ‘Chuck’
Banks, CIA Retired Senior Executive.
Attached is the poster from the City of Albuquerque for the 9/11
Memorial Event. It has information on what will be going on, how
to register at Eventbrite.com <http://eventbrite.com>
and the costs.
The Blue Star Mothers are a vendor at the event and will have our booth
with our information available. We will be accepting in-kind
donations at the event to help us with our inventory for the boxes we
pack for the troops overseas. For example, single serve meats,
drink packets, etc.
